Liverpool consider third offer in excess of £70m to sign 22-year-old star – report

Liverpool are considering making a bid in excess of £70m to sign RB Leizpig midfielder Naby Keita, according to reports in the English media.

The Liverpool Echo is reporting that the Reds are thinking about a third offer to sign the Guinea international after failing with bids of £57m and £66m for the Africa star.

The same article states that Liverpool are unlikely to have success wth the Bundesliga runners-up despite Keita handing in a transfer request at the German club.

According to the story, Liverpool have refused to comment on reports that Keita’s agent has flown out to Hong Kong, where the Reds are currently on their pre-season tour.

The 22-year-old midfielder was a key part of RB Leipzig’s side last summer as the German club finished in second place behind Bayern Munich in the title race.

Keita scored eight goals and made seven assists in 31 appearances in the Bundesliga last season following his £12.75m switch from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

Liverpool have already signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah and England Under-20 international Dominic Solanke in the summer transfer window so far, as well as Andy Robertson from Hull.
