Robert Pires has urged Arsene Wenger to focus on making Thomas Lemar Arsenal’s next summer signing.
The north London club are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new players this summer as the Gunners prepare for the 2017-18 campaign.
Arsenal have already tied up deals to land Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac this summer, with Monaco midfielder Lemar touted as another possible target for the north London side.
And former Arsenal midfielder Pires believes that Lemar would be the perfect fit for the Gunners as Wenger looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Pires told Sky Sports: “I love him as a player.
“For me, Thomas Lemar is one of the best French players there is. He can play on the left, he can play on the right, he can score goals and he can make assists.
“Lemar is the kind of player who can make a difference.
“He has the right profile to play for Arsenal, definitely. I hope for him and for Arsenal that it happens.”
Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League table last season but ended the campaign on a high when they beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
The Gunners will be hoping to challenge for the Premier League title next season, with the north Londoners not having won the competition since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.
