Bryan Robson has praised Jose Mourinho for the impact he has had at Manchester United since taking over last summer.

The Portuguese coach was drafted in as Louis van Gaal’s successor at Old Trafford last summer and was tasked with steering Manchester United back into the Champions League.

The Red Devils struggled to produce consistent form in the Premier League last term and ended up sixth, but Mourinho still managed to make it a successful season by coaching his side to the Europa League title and EFL Cup trophy.

Their European triumph secured their place in the group stage of next season’s Champions League and Mourinho will be hoping to help guide his team to a Premier League title challenge next term.

And Manchester United legend Robson has been impressed by what he has seen from Mourinho since his appointment at Old Trafford last May.

Speaking to Manchester United’s website, Robson said:

“When you look at the way Jose has turned club around, I know we won the FA Cup the year before, but he came in and brought in four new players who I think improved the team and improved the squad.

“So that went very well and then we got into a way of playing. Okay, we drew a lot of games at home but we weren’t getting beaten.”

Manchester United have not won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013.
