Jamie Redknapp has suggested that Manchester United could make a transfer bid to sign Joe Hart from Manchester City this summer if David De Gea leaves Old Trafford.
Hart’s situation looks set to become a source of speculation this summer after he returned to Manchester City following his loan spell at Torino.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper was deemed to be surplus to requirements at The Etihad by new manager Pep Guardiola last summer as he was shipped out on loan by the Citizens.
It remains to be seen whether Guardiola will opt to keep Hart or move him on this summer.
Former Liverpool star Redknapp is a huge admirer of the England international and feels the Red Devils could make a swoop to sign him should De Gea quit Old Trafford this summer.
Redknapp told Sky Sports on Saturday: I’m a big fan, I like him a lot. The decision he’s got to make, and I’m sure his agent is talking to different clubs, is where is he going to go?
“It’s not easy because if you look at the clubs who he’d be wanted by, but the one that would be interesting is if David De Gea leaves United. Would they maybe look at him?
“Absolutely I think he is at this level. I think so, I really do.
“But that’s only if De Gea goes, because they would have to try and find a goalkeeper from somewhere.
“Apart from that, obviously Man City have made their intentions clear, Tottenham have a good goalkeeper.
“Liverpool maybe, would that be an option for him?”
