Gary Neville criticised Ander Herrera for showing a lack of courage in the build-up to Granit Xhaka’s goal in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Manchester United.
After a goalless first half at The Emirates, Xhaka broke the deadlock int he 54th minute when his long-range effort deflected off Herrera’s back and looped over David De Gea in the Manchester United goal.
Danny Welbeck then made it 2-0 to the north London side when he headed home Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s brilliant cross just three minutes later.
Xhaka’s strike was unlikely to trouble De Gea before the deflection off Herrera and former Manchester United defender Neville was not impressed by the Spaniard’s play in the build-up to the goal.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “Herrera turned his back [for Xhaka’s goal] and it means there was a wicked loop on it which left De Gea with absolutely no chance.
“You shouldn’t turn your back. Herrera’s had a good season but he should not have done that. He’s got to stand up and take it on the chin.”

The win left Arsenal in sixth place in the Premier League table and on 63 points but the Gunners will move above the Red Devils if they win their game in hand over Jose Mourinho’s men.
