Antonio Conte has lavished praise on Nathan Ake following his strong performance in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Everton on Sunday.
The young Dutch defender came on for the final eight minutes of the clash at Goodison Park as he replaced David Luiz and helped Conte’s side keep a clean sheet against the Toffees.
Goals from Pedro Rodriguez, Gary Cahill and Willian wrapped up the three points for the west London side as they continued their march towards the Premier League title.
Ake has had to be patient for his place in the Chelsea team since being recalled to the club back in January following his loan spell at Bournemouth in the first half of the season.
Indeed, his appearance at Goodison Park on Sunday was his first Premier League outing of the season for Chelsea.
And Conte has been delighted by Ake’s impact at Stamford Bridge whenever called upon.
The Italian told his post-match news conference on Sunday: “I am very pleased with Ake’s impact. He came on and he looked like a veteran. He is only a young player. He is showing great commitment, work-rate and concentration when I ask him to play.
“It’s not easy to be used to playing every game for Bournemouth and then arrive at Chelsea and be on the bench or sometimes in the stands. But he understands I trust him. I put him in the semi-final against Tottenham, and I put him today in a moment very important for us.
“I’m also pleased for this because to play a young player is a great thing for us.”
