Gary Neville believes Arsenal can consider themselves as having had a successful season if they win the FA Cup this term.
It has been something of a frustrating campaign for Gunners fans under Arsene Wenger this season, with the north London side having dropped out of the Premier League’s top four and having been dumped out of the Champions League.
Arsenal were beaten 2-0 by bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur last weekend to leave their hopes of finishing in the top four in serious doubt.
Indeed, the Gunners are currently sixth in the table and six points adrift of the top four with five games left to play.
Arsenal will take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final later this month as they look to end what has been a disappointing season with some silverware.
However, former Manchester United defender Neville feels that FA Cup glory would represent a positive campaign for Wenger’s men.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Neville said: “If they won the FA Cup this year, would that be seen as a successful season? I’d say probably yes.
“People will argue their league performance has been the worst it’s been for 15 or 20 years but maybe they are allowed a blip.”
