Jose Mourinho: These two Man United stars were exceptional against Chelsea

Jose Mourinho singled out Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly for special praise after Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera wrapped up the victory for Mourinho’s men as they blew the title race wide open.

However, Mourinho made a point of mentioning the displays of both Rojo and Bailly, who have been consistent performers in the heart of Manchester United’s defence in recent weeks.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Mourinho said: “I think everyone did what they had to do. Everybody fought really hard.

“Bailly and Rojo, I think they deserve a special mention because they have played in absolutely every game, non-stop, since the injuries of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.”

The win left Manchester United in fifth place in the Premier League table as they get ready for the return leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash against Anderlecht on Thursday night.

The Red Devils, who won the EFL Cup back in February, are still hoping to claw their way back into the top four before the season is out but know that winning the Europa League this season would offer them a direct route into next season’s Champions League.
