Matt Le Tissier has revealed that he has a soft spot for Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata.
The Spain international has been one of Manchester United’s better players in an otherwise mixed campaign for the 20-time English champions.
Mata has scored six goals and has made three assists in 22 appearances in the Premier League this season under new manager Jose Mourinho.
The World Cup winner started his Premier League career at Chelsea and played under Mourinho for half a season before the ex-Blues boss sold Mata to Manchester United in a big-money deal.
The Portuguese coach has placed his faith in the playmaker since taking over at Old Trafford, though.
Manchester United will host Premier League leaders Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon as Mourinho’s men look to secure a top-four spot.
Speaking to Sky Sports about his composite Manchester United-Chelsea XI ahead of the big clash, Le Tissier explained why he has a soft spot for Mata.
“I’ve gone with Mata just ahead of Pedro on the other side. He’s a player I like and once again perhaps attracts a bit of personal bias as he is a bit like me in not being blessed with pace!” Le Tissier said.
