Mesut Ozil has told Arsenal fans that he still “loves” the north London club and warned not to believe the speculation about his future in the media.
The 28-year-old’s contract situation at The Emirates has been a constant source of debate in recent months after both he and Alexis Sanchez entered into the final 15 months of their current deals at the North London club.
The playmaker is believed to be in talks with Arsenal about the possibility of extending his current contract beyond the summer of 2018.
However, there is yet to be any official confirmation from the club about Ozil’s current situation at The Emirates.
But the playmaker has now given his clearest indication yet that he is planning to stay and extend his deal with the north London side.
Ozil told Sportbild, as quoted by Metro: “You cannot believe everything that is written, I just want to say that I still have a one-year contract and I love to run for this club.
“So now it’s all right, so let’s just wait and see what happens.”
Ozil will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action with a home clash against Manchester City at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
