Antonio Conte can transform Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante into the best all-round midfielder in the world, according to Kenny Cunningham.
The defensive midfielder was widely praised for his outstanding performance in Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final on Monday night after his second-half winner.
The France international moved to the Blues in a £34m deal from defending Premier League champions Leicester City in the summer transfer window after Kante helped to guide the Foxes to title glory last term.
Kante scored his first Chelsea goal in a 4-0 win against Manchester United in the Premier League back in October as the Frenchman scored his first goal for the west London club.
And the 26-year-old continued his goal-scoring record against the Red Devils with a finish from outside in the box in the second half against 10-man Manchester United.
Speaking to Irish radio station Newstalk about Kante’s potential under Conte, former Republic of Ireland international Cunningham said:
“The frightening thing about Kante is there is more to come. Conte has tapped into his potential. We will see more of this kid over the next year or two.
“He will take more responsibility in the opposition’s half of the pitch. He got his goal. This lad could develop into the best all-round midfield players rather than just the best holding midfielder. He has more to give.”
