Frank Lampard believes N’Golo Kante has more facets to his game than Chelsea legend Claude Makelele after the midfielder’s outstanding performance in a 1-0 win against Manchester United on Monday night.
Kante has been widely hailed for his dominant performance in Chelsea’s close-fought win in the FA Cup quarter-final as Antonio Conte edged one step closer to completing a special double.
The France international scored his first Chelsea goal in a 4-0 win against Manchester United in the Premier League back in October, and Kante netted the second strike of his Blues career thanks to a long-range strike against David De Gea.
Kante moved to Chelsea in a £30m deal from defending Premier League champions Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
Speaking to BBC Sport about Kante’s performance in Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Manchester United, Lampard claimed that the France defensive midfielder has now surpassed his former team-mate Makelele.
“I compared him to Claude Makelele last season, but he’s got even more to his game than Makelele,” Lampard said.
Makelele won three Premier League titles during his spell with Chelsea.
