Charlie Nicholas is backing Manchester United to ease to victory over Russian side FC Rostov in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Red Devils will host the Russian club in the second leg of their last-16 clash after Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a first-half opener in a 1-1 draw with Rostov.
Manchester United suffered the disappointment of losing 1-0 to Premier League leaders Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
Jose Mourinho is now going for a double in his first season at Old Trafford after the manager masterminded Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Southampton in the EFL Cup final at Wembley last month.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Manchester United’s upcoming home clash against Rostov in the Europa League, former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas said:
“Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back in so they’ll have plenty of belief and he’s probably got the anger out of his system by now,” Nicholas said.
“The pitch was a nightmare at Rostov but I think it could be one of those slow nights where United are sat on a narrow lead before finishing them off.”
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table after a disappointing 1-1 draw with 10-man Bournemouth in their last Premier League game at Old Trafford earlier this month.
