Arsene Wenger’s honest response when asked if Alexis Sanchez will start Arsenal v Bayern Munich

Arsene Wenger has remained tight-lipped when asked whether Alexis Sanchez could start for Arsenal against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

The Chile international’s future has been a source of constant debate over the past week after a reported fallout between Wenger and Sanchez during a training session last week.

The Arsenal manager opted to start his star player on the bench as the north London side lost 3-1 to their top-four rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Sanchez came off the bench at half-time to help tee up Danny Welbeck to halve the deficit before Georginio Wijnaldum netted in the closing minutes of the Anfield clash.

The South American scored Arsenal’s only goal in a 5-1 loss to Bundesliga holders in the first leg of their last-16 clash in the Champions League last month.

Asked whether Sanchez will be in his starting line-up for the return leg against Carlo Ancelotti’s side at The Emirates, Wenger told his pre-match media conference:

“I haven’t decided yet, you will have to come to the game [to find out]. I make that decision [Tuesday] morning.”
