Pundit discusses whether Liverpool can catch Chelsea in the title race

Jermaine Jenas believes that Liverpool are still capable of catching Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title this season, despite the Reds’ shock 3-2 loss to Swansea on Saturday.

The Reds had been expected to pick up all three points against the Swansea at Anfield on Saturday but slumped to a disappointing defeat after the visitors scored three second-half goals on Merseyside.

The result dealt a fresh blow to Liverpool’s hopes of catching title favourites Chelsea in the race for the Premier League trophy.

But despite Saturday’s potentially damaging defeat, Jenas feels that all is not lost for Liverpool in the race for the title.

Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday, Jenas said: “The way people are looking at it is whether Chelsea are going to drop that many points. I don’t think so.

“You look at the two games coming up for Chelsea after Hull which is Liverpool and Arsenal.

“Liverpool have the chance to go and attack their rival and put things right while they’ll come up against a tough team in Arsenal.

“You’re talking about six points behind dropped there if things go right for their rivals. The title race isn’t completely over.”

Liverpool are looking to build on the disappointment of their eighth-placed finish in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp last season.
