Liverpool are lining up a January transfer bid to sign winger Quincy Promes from Spartak Moscow, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that Jurgen Klopp is ready to make a bid to bring the 24-year-old attacker to Anfield as cover for Sadio Mane, who is set to head to the African Cup of Nations in the New Year.
The same report claims that Klopp is a long-term admirer of Promes and that the German was keen on signing the player when he was in charge of Borussia Dortmund back in 2014.
The story goes on to explain that Liverpool’s proposed deal for Promes could be influenced by Spartak Moscow’s reported attempt to sign Aleksandr Samedov, who could be seen as a natural replacement for Promes.
Liverpool have made a promising start to the Premier League season in what is Klopp’s first season in charge.
