Gary Neville: This is what should be encouraging for Chelsea fans

Gary Neville believes that the speed of Chelsea’s attacks means that the Blues are showing signs of being able to win the Premier League title this season.

The west London side were at their counter-attacking best on Saturday afternoon as they came from a goal down to beat Manchester City 3-1 at The Etihad in the Premier League.

Goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard in the second half wrapped up an impressive victory and kept Chelsea flying high at the top of the Premier League table.

Indeed, the Blues have won their last eight games on the spin to leave them firmly in the chase for the title.

Neville insists that he is still not fully convinced by the Blues but does admit that they are starting to show some of the hallmarks of champions.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “There was a devastation about Chelsea today. I am not going to hand Chelsea the title now, it’s far too early for that, but when I think of teams that have won the league over the years, I think of teams that are capable of attacking in four or five seconds.

“They looked like they were going to concede at one end, and then all of a sudden it’s in the back of the net at the other.

“It reminds me of teams that did win leagues. I saw that devastating counter attack today, which is massively encouraging for them.”
