Matteo Darmian certainly looked pleased with his 27th birthday cake as he celebrated his special day with his girlfriend Francesca Cormanni on Friday night.

The Manchester United defender has managed to revive his ailing Red Devils career thanks in part to injuries to Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling and Antonio Valencia over the past couple of months.

Darmian has been a regular at right-back in Jose Mourinho’s side in recent weeks although the Italy international has been unable to put a halt to Manchester United’s stuttering Premier League form.

However, the versatile defender didn’t feature on Wednesday night as the Red Devils set up a EFL Cup semi-final clash against Hull City after a 4-1 win against West Ham United at Old Trafford.

And Darmian’s girlfriend Francesca presented the Manchester United full-back with a huge cake to celebrate his 27th birthday.

Francesca posted the above photo on her Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“Congratulations to the best part of me”

Manchester United finished in fifth place in Darmian’s first season in the Premier League.
