Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mesut Ozil has been working on his finishing in training in recent weeks with Arsenal.

The Germany playmaker has started the season in impressive fashion and scored his first career hat-trick as he netted three times in the second half during Arsenal’s 6-0 thrashing of Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Ozil has developed into a key player for Arsenal since his arrival at the club from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 and is widely regarded to be one of the finest playmakers in the Premier League.

And following his recent goal-scoring feats for the north London side, Wenger has revealed that the 28-year-old has been working hard on his finishing at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground.

Speaking in his news conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Middlesbrough, Wenger said: “He works quite well on finishing in training.

“I believe that every player gets in a habit of having a vision of his game, and sometimes he doesn’t get out of the boundaries he has fixed himself. He experienced his game as a provider and slowly I think he’s getting the taste to think ‘oh, maybe I can finish as well’.

“That’s what you want him to do, to add that to his game. There’s no reason that he should not finish and score. Hopefully the fact that he scored again on Wednesday night will give him that taste and desire.”

Ozil is likely to be rested for Arsenal’s League Cup clash against Reading at The Emirates on Tuesday night.
