Johnny Gaudreau’s OT winner gives Flames Game 7 win

Johnny Gaudreau’s second goal of the opening round was the overtime winner as Calgary defeated Dallas 3-2 in Game 7 to advance to the second round

Gaudreau was all over the ice in Game 7 but was denied time after time by Jake Oettinger until the winner. Gaudreau had seven shots on goal in the victory as he ended the first round with eight points. Gaudreau assisted on Matthew Tkachuk’s game-tying goal in the second period. Tyler Toffoli opened the scoring for Calgary who outshot Dallas 67-28. Calgary now goes on to face Provincial rival Edmonton in the second round in the battle of Alberta.

There are no words to describe how great Oettinger was on Sunday as he robbed the Flames time after time. He faced 26 shots just in the second period to the Stars four shots on Markstrom as Calgary swarmed the net continuously throughout the contest. Every member of the Flames spent a few seconds during the post-game handshakes congratulating Oettinger on his effort in Game 7 and throughout the entire series as he ended the seven games with a 3-4 record to go with a 1.81 GAA and an eye-popping .954 save percentage. He was absolutely amazing, especially in the Game 7 loss.
