Panarin scores Game 7 OT winner against Penguins

Artemi Panarin scored the game-winning goal in Sunday’s 4-3 Game 7 overtime win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Panarin came up empty on his first five attempts of the contest, but all it takes in overtime is one successful hit. Thus was the case in Game 7 on Sunday, with Panarin netting the winner through traffic against Tristan Jarry to send the Rangers into the Eastern Semifinals (against Carolina) with all kinds of good vibes. Panarin notched three goals and seven points across seven games versus the Penguins.

Igor Shesterkin stopped 42-of-45 attempts in Sunday’s 4-3 Game 7 overtime win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Another huge effort from Shesterkin on Sunday. The star netminder was not perfect on the evening, though, letting in Danton Heinen, Jake Guentzel, and Evan Rodrigues goals through the first two periods. While he trailed 3-2 at the final intermission, he did not buckle again in the contest, giving New York a window to tie things up late. Which they did, on a Mika Zibanejad goal with under six minutes remaining in regulation. the Rangers will take on the Hurricanes for the right to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
