MotoGP 2014 Standings

MotoGP fans saw another thrilling round of the World Championship on last Sunday at Le Mans, where Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Marquez stormed to the rostrum once again byproving why he is best in the business. The 21-year old Spaniard made his bashers speechless when he fought his way back up from 10th to number one position in lap 16 and went on winning the race. The doctor (Valentino Rossi) was also not too bad either, as he had a good start in the race and he made the most of Marquez’s initial mistake by leading the pack of riders for several laps. Unfortunately, he was not able to give Marc a tough fight when the Repsol Honda rider bounced back, but he managed to secure second place.

Alvaro Bautista of GO&Fun Honda Gresini also came through with flying colours, as for the first time after 2012 he was able to reach the podium. Bautista finished third and stunned everyone with his solid performance, especially considering the fact that he failed to finish three of the last five races.Alvaro was not the only rider who showed a staggering performance at the French circuit, as Monster Yamaha Tech3 team’s Pol Espargaro was also among the leaders of the race. Due to these surprise performances overall standings are now depicting quite an interesting picture at the end of the French Grand Prix. For instance, after Le Mans, now there is not much difference left between DaniPedrosa and Rossi’s points.

1      Marc Marquez     Repsol Honda Team     125
2     Dani Pedrosa     Repsol Honda Team     83
3     Valentino Rossi     Movistar Yamaha MotoGP     81
4     Andrea Dovizioso     Ducati Team                   53
5     Jorge Lorenzo     Movistar Yamaha MotoGP     45
6     Stefan Bradl     LCR Honda MotoGP     39
7     Pol Espargaro     Monster Yamaha Tech 3     38
8     Aleix Espargaro     NGM Forward Racing     37

12   Nicky Hayden     Drive M7 Aspar                   23
13   Hiroshi Aoyama     Drive M7 Aspar                   21

21   Broc Parkes     Paul Bird Motorsport     1

Valentino has obtained 81 points which makes him third on the standings, while the Repsol rider, who is sitting at second place possess 83 points. Thus if Rossi manages to reach the podium in Italy hehas a fair chance of gaining the second place. Moving down the chart, Rossi’s teammate Jorge Lorenzo, who recently had an arm pump surgery, is also not too far from gaining the fourth spot from Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso. Given that Lorenzo (45) is just eight points behindDovizioso (53). The ranking gets even more intense, as we move further below, whereStefan Bradlissitting at sixwith 39 points andEspargarois at seven with 38 points.

AleixEspargaro of NGM Forward Racingis holding eighth place with 37 points, whereasMonster Yamaha Tech3 team’s Bradley Smith at ninth spot has made it into the top ten with 34 points. Keeping this nominal difference in mind, one can easily say that Smith, Aleix, Pol andBradlhas a great opportunity to move up in the rankings. If they put up a solid performance in Italy, as the competition is still wide open. As far as Marquez is concerned, it does not seem possible at the moment that anyone can catch him neither in the standings and nor on the track.

Just the way popular motorcycle store, RiderWear cannot be caught when it comes to providing wide variety of quality motorcycle accessories and clothing at reasonable prices.
