Inter Bossing The Transfer Market With Another Good Signing

Inter have reached an agreement with Sporting CP for Joao Mario.

The deal will become official in the next 72 hours once Mario passes his physical. The midfielder will reportedly cost €40m with an additional €5m in bonuses and Mario has agreed to a five year contract that will pay him €3m per year after tax.

Inter are expected to sign the Portuguese star on an initial loan for €10m, with an obligation to buy next summer for €35m in order to aid their bid to stay in line with Financial Fair Play rules.

Inter and Suning have been working on this deal for most of the summer, but ultimately the man who made it happen was Kia Joorabchian – who is Joao Mario’s agent and a consultant to Suning.

What is remarkable about the Mario deal, and the earlier Antonio Candreva deal is how little money Inter have actually spent during this transfer window. The €22m for Antonio Candreva is paid over 4 years, so he only cost €5.5m this summer while Mario cost €10m. Add in playmaker Éver Banega who they signed on a Bosman transfer from Sevilla and for €15.5m, Inter have signed three top quality players this summer. That is impressive.

What do you think of the signing of Joao Mario?
