Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko is only interested in joining a big club and Real Madrid is his preferred destination. Sissoko, who claimed he’s been training on his own since he rejoined Newcastle after Euro 2016, does not want to play in the Championship this season.
“I hope Real will come for me, I’m still waiting,” Sissoko told BBC Sport.
“If Real Madrid are interested in you then of course you will be happy, but right now I am still a Newcastle player.”
“I spent three and a half years here. I gave everything for this club and I want to play some big games. For that I need to go somewhere else,” he added.
“I want to play in the Premier League, I want to play for a big club who can get into the Champions League. That’s why I said I want to leave this year.
I’ve spent a lot of time here and now it’s time to look forward. The fans need to understand my situation, I hope they will and that everything will be OK.”
This summer Real Madrid paid the buy-back clause of Álvaro Morata, who was playing for Juventus, while Fabio Coentrao, Lucas Silva and Marcos Asensio returned to the squad after their loan spells. Centre forward Mariano Díaz was also promoted to the first team from Real Madrid Castilla. Los Blancos have not made any other signings, but the fact they might not be able to buy any player in the next two transfer windows due to a possible FIFA ban could push them to purchase someone else.
Sissoko, who is 26 years old, made 133 appearances for Newcastle. In the last season, he only managed to score one goal, although he created 56 chances, more than any Newcastle player. Seven of those chances were assists. Also, he was unsuccessful in the 53% of the take-on he tried and committed 50 fouls.
