Diego Godin Expected To Leave At End Of Season

Inter Milan will allow Diego Godin to leave the club this summer after just one season at the San Siro, according to reports in Spain.

The former Atletico Madrid skipper joined the Serie A giants on a permanent deal last summer and has featured in 16 of a possible 26 league games this season.

However, the 34-year-old Uruguayan has struggled to adapt to Antonio Conte’s system and will be shown the exit doors this summer, according to Diario AS.

Conte prefers to deploy three centre backs in defense and Godin has been replaced by 20-year-old Alessandro Bastoni in recent weeks.

Godin clocked up 289 appearances for Atletico over nine seasons and was brought in by the Italian side as he possessed brilliant leadership qualities.

Godin won eight trophies during his time in the Spanish capital, picking up the 2014 La Liga title and also reaching two Champions League finals with the club.

However, the Uruguay international has struggled somewhat this year in Italy.
