Mercato: Pastore Deal In Trouble Due To FFP

The ghost of Erick Thohir continues to haunt Inter. It was Thohir’s mismanagement that got Inter into trouble with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules, something that Inter re still struggling to overcome.

Luciano Spalletti has made it clear that he wants an attacking creative player brought in during this transfer window, and the name at the top of his wish list is Paris Saint-Germain’s Javier Pastore.

The Nerazzurri want the Argentine midfielder, but because of FFP, we do not have the cash to buy in. Instead, Inter want to talk Pastore on loan with an option to buy at a later date.

That will not work for PG, who have their own FFP issues after spending €222m on Neymar in the summer.

According to, PSG must raise around €80m during this transfer window to stay within the FFP parameters.

As a result, they’re looking to sell players, or at the very least loan them with an obligation to buy in the summer.

That presents a problem for Inter, who can’t afford to spend €25-30m in January on Pastore.
