According to calciomercato.com, Suning have turned their attention and focus on the job that Sporting director Piero Ausilio is doing.
Steven Zhang and Suning made it clear earlier this week that they have big hopes for Inter:
“Our only objective when investing in Inter is to make it the best club in the world.
“I promise that in future we will make history together: it’s just a matter of time.”
A big part of reaching that goal is player recruitment which is why the spotlight is on Ausilio at the moment. Ausilio is out of contract at the end of the season and even if he wasn’t, the current Inter squad is full of mediocre players that he either signed or kept.
Kondogbia, Murillo, Santon, Jovetic, Ranocchia, D’Ambrosio, Biabiany, Felipe Melo, etc,… . These are all players who have not performed as expected at Inter. Then there is also the case of some young players who were sold too quickly like Benassi and Laxalt for example.
It appears that Suning have serious reservations whether Ausilio is the right man to entrust with a €150-200 million transfer budge next summer. And rightly so. There is nothing in his track record at Inter to show that he can spend that money wisely on impact players, instead of frittering it away on mediocrity.
If Ausilio is the next head to roll, it looks like Suning have identified Walter Sabatini to replace him. The former Roma sporting director recently rejected an offer from Parma (before they had hired Faggiano), as he waits for the right situation and offer.
And post-January, Inter might be that. Suning promise to spend big next summer once they are free from the current Financial Fair Play restrictions, and Sabatini would be given a free reign to go out and sign some of the top players in the world.
Do you think that Walter Sabatini will be an upgrade over Piero Ausilio?
