De Boer has had a rocky start to his Inter managerial career, losing five of his first 10 games in charge of the Nerazzurri.
De Boer met with Inter vice-President Javier Zanetti, sporting director Piero Ausilio and director general Giovanni Gardini before training yesterday and laid out their concerns. That Suning is concerned with his team, selection, management of the squad and the team’s physical fitness. So basically everything he is doing.
De Boer is under pressure, but he’s not thought to be under immediate threat unless the upcoming Southampton and Atalanta games bring humiliating defeats. Which means that de Boer has until the Inter v Crotone match on November 6 to turn things around. Or Inter will be looking for their third manager four months.
But still, it looks like Inter are doing their diligence and are looking at possible replacements for the Dutchman.
According to Tuttosport, if de Boer fails to turn Inter’s season around in the next 2-3 matches, he can be sacked in favour of former Roma boss Rudy Garcia. But CalcioNews24 is reporting that the first name on the Suning Group’s shortlist is in fact Fabio Capello.
The former Milan, Juventus and Roma Coach has been out of work since leaving his post with the Russian national team, and is thought to be keen to return to work.
The common thread that links Capello and Garcia is that they are both experienced Serie A manages, a recognition that Erik Thohir’s decision to hire a manager who had no experience in Serie A and did not speak the language was a mistake.
