Steelers’ cornerback Senquez Golson had to be carted off the practice field with an apparent foot/ankle Injury on Monday.

We now have details on the injury – it’s not good.

According to Aditi Kinkhabwala and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Pittsburgh’s 23-year-old defensive back has a Lisfranc Injury that could sideline him for 12 weeks.

A lisfranc injury, for those unfamiliar, occurs when metatarsal bones are displaced from the tarsus. It’s a mid-foot injury.

Golson played collegiately at Ole Miss and was a second-round pick by the Steelers in 2015. He missed his rookie season with a shoulder injury.

Pittsburgh opens its 2016 season Sept. 12 against the Redskins on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
