Son Heung-Min of Tottenham Hotspur celebrates scoring his sides third goal during the Premier League match between Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park on March 10, 2024 in Birmingham, England. |
Tottenham are in the market for one more solid attacking piece to complete their front line, and there’s a belief that Spurs will either go after a left winger or a No. 9 so that the can move Son Heung-min back to the wing.

Tottenham need help on the wing
As transfer speculation mounts regarding the future of Premier League veteran Richarlison, who did enjoy a bounce-back season under Ange Postecoglou, there’s been equally rampant transfer speculation in the Italian media about the possibility of Tottenham going after Federico Chiesa.
It makes sense. Tottenham have a need on the wings, Chiesa is incredibly talented, Spurs tend to go after young talents in Serie A, and Chiesa is affordable to Daniel Levy at a price point under 30 million euros.
Ange Postecoglou has other plans
However, there has been no concrete movement on the Chiesa front for Tottenham, with virtually every reliable source plugged in to Tottenham stating that the club is not in on the Juventus star.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold writes that Federico Chiesa simply isn’t one of Ange Postecoglou’s “original targets” and that if Chiesa were to emerge on Tottenham’s radar at the end of the summer transfer window, then it would be because Postecoglou’s planned targets were no longer feasible.
Federico Chiesa is better than Timo Werner
Tottenham fans will be curious and excited to see who these forward targets are, because Chiesa has consistently been Italy’s most impressive players at big tournaments and was fantastic for Juventus before a major knee injury – and Max Allegri’s poor management of attackers.
Chiesa concerningly is being sold because he does not fit into new manager Thiago Motta’s plans, and Motta was the man who engineered a near Champions League fairytale for Bologna last season behind coaxing breakout seasons from Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori – both of whom have just earned big Premier League moves.
Tottenham’s big attacking move this summer has been to renew the loan of RB Leipzig’s fallen star Timo Werner, and Chiesa has higher upside than the former German international and Champions League winner with Chelsea.
