Trouble at Anfield as Klopp says Liverpool players ‘free to leave’ over Champions League failure

Juergen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has told any players who are unsure about staying at Anfield because they will not be playing in the Champions League next season that they are free to leave.

The rumor mill went into overdrive regarding Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool following his recent tweet in which he appeared to express his intense rage and frustration over not playing in the Champions League next season.

When asked if his talisman might leave this summer, Jurgen Klopp responded, “Mo loves this club.”.

Liverpool players receive a warning from Klopp.

Nevertheless, the Liverpool manager has made it clear that if any player has any reservations about staying at Anfield following the team’s failure to advance to the Champions League, he will personally drive them to a new club.

Before Liverpool’s final Premier League match of the year, Klopp was frank about possible departures.

Klopp said: “If ever a player would come to me, and said: ‘oh we didn’t qualify for the Champions League, I have to leave, I would drive him to the other club myself.

“That would be something I never could understand. It is like I would say (he puts on a childish voice for emphasis) ‘oh we didn’t qualify for the Champions League, I need to work in the Champions League so I go’.”

Liverpool will play Southampton on Sunday to finish the 2022–23 campaign.
