Luis Suárez has verbally agreed to join Brazilian side Grêmio, per multiple reports




Suarez, who recently took part in the 2022 World Cup where Uruguay were knocked out in the group stage has joined Grêmio who finished second in the 2022 Brasileiro Serie B and were promoted back to the top flight.

Luiz Suarez spent the first half of the season back with boyhood team Nacional in Uruguay and managed to score eight goals within the three months he spent there. The 35 aimed at building up his fitness ahead of the World Cup after leaving Atletico Madrid since he had no Club by then.


Grêmio, is based in Porto Alegre, capital city of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil and participates within the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A as well as  the Campeonato Gaúcho, Rio Grande do Sul's top state league. 

The 35-year-old has been a free agent after leaving Nacional earlier this year. 


According to Argentinian journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Suarez has agreed to a move to Brazilian side Gremio, with Mexican club Club Azul also thought to be an option.

According to Sports Bible(link), Suárez will be reunited with former Liverpool teammate Lucas Leiva, who moved back to Brazil after leaving Serie A side Lazio in the summer.


Grêmio is Coached by Renato Portalllupi and presided by Roberto Guera.

Moreso, according to Fabrizio Romano, Luis Suárez had also been approached by Saudi club Al-Khaleej on a 18 months deal. Al-Khaleej offered $6m package but Gremio have already had full verbal agreement with Suárez and are now just left with putting pen on paper with the Uruguay star.
