Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants will be facing each other for the second time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The first leg of fixtures between the team saw KL Rahul-led side winning the game by 4 wickets at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on 30th April.

It will be the last league game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 for both teams. While Mumbai Indians were the first team to be eliminated from the tournament, Lucknow Super Giants are still mathematically in the equation for the playoff but their chances to qualify are second to none.

Mumbai Indians are last on the points table with just 4 wins and 9 defeats in the 13 games that they have played. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants have 12 points with 6 wins and 7 defeats in the 13 games that they have played. They need to win by a big margin to stay in the hunt for the playoffs.

Both Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants will be entering the game on the back of defeats. While Mumbai were thrashed by Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow were thumped by Delhi Capitals. However, with the last league game for both, they would be keen to finish on high.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik won the toss and opted to field first in the game against LSH. He talked about Wankhede being the chasing ground and said that they need to keep their heads high despite the season not going their way.

“We're going to bowl. Chasing is better in Wankhede. It comes on nicer in the evening. It's always about playing for the badge, playing for pride - all those words are important in the group. We know where we stand. But ending the season playing good cricket will always be appreciated. It gives us more freedom maybe to go out there and express ourselves.“

LSG captain KL Rahul talked about the conditions and said that they will need to assess the wicket before setting a target. He admitted that they started well but it hasn’t been great the last few games for them. He explained:

“Quinton misses out, Devdutt comes in. Matt Henry comes in. Those are the big changes. Obviously disappointed. We started well in the season. Couple of weeks ago we were sitting in the top four. But that's how the tournament is. It's an opportunity today to come out and play our best cricket and entertain the crowd.”
