CHECKOUT: A Hall Of Famer Explains Why Yankees Will Retain Juan Soto In Free Agency!

CHECKOUT: A Hall Of Famer Explains Why Yankees Will Retain Juan Soto In Free Agency!

Juan Soto made his debut for the New York Yankees in 2024. Previously, he had played for the Washington Nationals and the San Diego Padres as well. The Dominican slugger even had won a World Series with the Nationals back in 2019. Later, in 2020, he won the National League Batting Championship. This year, he came to the Bronx in hoping to have a lasting impact on the iconic franchise. Moreover, the Pinstripes will hope that, along with Aaron Judge, the 2020 NL Batting Champion, can help them win the World Series after a long time. It has been a long wait for the 27-time World Champions to see themselves end the title drought since 2009.

Can this year, the Judge-Soto duo lead the Yankees to win their 28th Big Dance? It has been 15 years since they even made it to the World Series. Last year, the Bronx Bombers even failed to make the postseason. But this year, the addition of Soto is raising hopes in the Bronx. The Judge-Soto duo has helped them get to the top spot of the American League East division with only 17 games to go in the regular season. Hence, the Yankees should go all-in to keep the Dominican superstar next offseason.

Recently, on The Mayor’s Office podcast, Tim Kurkjian, a Hall of Fame analyst, was talking to Sean Casey regarding Soto’s future with the Yankees. During the Sean Casey podcast, the HoF analyst mentioned that the Dominican slugger might stay in the Bronx next year. Moreover, the analyst believes the NY side can’t let the slugger go to the crosstown rivals or any team for that matter. Kurkjian said, “Juan Soto is a transcendent hitter, I think.” Moreover, the analyst believes the presence of the Judge-Soto duo will be a major driving force for the future of the Bronx Bombers.

Adding to that, Kurkjian noted that when Soto joined the Bombers, everyone in the team was like, “Oh so that’s what a professional at-bat looks like.” Everybody can see how Soto hits and works during his at-bats. The analyst noted that the Dominican slugger does not chase any pitch or even gives up on at-bats just by swinging at a bad throw on the first pitch. Kurkjian believes everyone in the clubhouse has learned that from Soto. Moreover, he said that Aaron Judge, who was already a great hitter, became even better when Soto came in.

Sean Casey Agrees With Kurkjian

The host of ‘The Mayor’s Office’ mentioned that even if the Yankees fail to sign Juan Soto next offseason, they must offer him something close to what the Mets or whoever signs him had offered. Sean Casey agrees with the Hall of Famer analyst here in this case. Moreover, Casey added that seeing Aaron Judge and Juan Soto together in the lineup it is quite impossible to imagine that the Yankees won’t even try to sign the Dominican slugger back.

The Mets and the Yankees can both go around a $600 million deal for the 2020 NL Batting Champion. There will be an exciting battle between the two teams from the Big Apple for Juan Soto. Nonetheless, the Pinstripes will have to break their bank if needed to keep the four-time Silver Slugger winner.
