The stunning trails along the Redeems Centre, Kampung Apar in Bau, Kuching are ready to host the first edition of the Borneo Trail Classic (BTC), part of the Spartan Trail World Championship, the most prestigious and anticipated trail running Championship series in the world. The race will be happening on the 15-16 October, 2022. 

Taking place at the Redeems Centre in Kampung Apar, Bau, Kuching, the Borneo Trail Classic is one of the multiple stops around the world under the 2022 Spartan Trail World Championship. It is the only stop located in Southeast Asia in the Championship. The Borneo Trail Classic encompasses 5 distances – 7km, 10km, 21km, 50km (Trail Run Championship) and 100km (Trail Ultra Championship). In addition to the above mentioned categories, Borneo Trail Classic is also proud to be organising a 1km and 3km Kids Trail Fun Run targeted at ages 5 to 14.  

The entire trail will pass through Matang Wildlife Centre, Matang Family Park, Mount Singai  and local heritage villages, namely Kawasan Singai, Kpg. Apar, Kpg. Segong, Kpg. Barieng, Kpg. Bobak Sejinjang, Kpg. Daun, Kpg. Daun Ngori, Kpg. Tabong, Kpg. Atas, Kpg. Badul, Kpg. Sudoh,  and Kpg. Rayu.  Racers are also encouraged to stay at the homestays nearby to experience the beautiful and peaceful “kampung” lifestyle.

The Bold Warriors Adventure and Exploration Club was founded in 2019 and aims to promote trail running in our beautiful yet challenging rainforest trails.  Besides challenging one’s physical endurance, trail running is also very effective in overcoming stress and promoting a healthy lifestyle.  Through trail running activities, it also helps to foster mutual goodwill, understanding and friendship among its members.  

Borneo Trail Classic is also excited to be collaborating with MAKSAK Sarawak by encouraging and inviting all MAKSAK Sarawak members to the race by proposing an inter-MAKSAK Sarawak competition where the winning department will walk away with exclusive prizes from BTC 2022.

Borneo Trail Classic will also be inviting the first place winner of the recent U12 Malaysian School Sports Council (MSSM) 2022 National Cross Country Championship, Ms. Shakira Onie Henry along with her entire team to participate in the 7km race.

Racers participating in the 50km and the 100km will stand the opportunity of being part of the Spartan Trail World Championship, with Elite runners competing for a major prize purse totalling up to US$25,000 for both categories and more importantly, championship points for the World final leaderboard.
