Joan Laporta Reelected Barcelona Club President

Joan Laporta won a landslide victory in the presidential election of Barcelona football club with most votes. The 58-year-old received just under 60 percent of the vote compared to the other presidential candidates, Victor Font and Tony Freix.

The initial priorities of the new old president of the ‘blaugrana’ are resolving the status of club icon Lionel Messi and the arrival of the first known reinforcement for next season.
The return of Joan Laporte to the presidency of Barcelona has been expected. For the second time in his career, the successful Catalan lawyer swept the competition and occupied one of the most demanding positions in the world of sports.

Laporte's return to Camp Nou was the first precondition for the possible stay of captain Lionel Messi, who has been negotiating for some time for a summer transfer with the managements of Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain.
As reported by the local sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Laporta had a convincing victory in their pocket after only 89 percent of the votes were counted. Victor Font ended up collecting just under 32 percent of them, and Toni Freix just under 10 percent. "I congratulate the new old President Laporta on his victory. We will all, without exception, support him in his work. If he is as successful as in his first term (between 2003 and 2010, op. Cit.), Barcelona will reach for heights again," he said. Freix responded to the victory of presidential opponent Joan Laporte.

Messi’s public support is a key factor, Haaland at the top of the wish list.
The public support of Leo Messi was one of the key factors for the resounding election campaign of the 58-year-old Laporte, who repeatedly emphasized that in addition to resolving the status of a club icon, the near future is also important in terms of possible team reinforcements. Fans of Catalan pride are already impatient, as the new old president "promised" them some time ago the arrival of one of the biggest young stars in world football. He is currently a member of Borussia Dortmund, Erling Haaland, who is at the top of the wish list of the new club management.

If the scenario around Haaland finally materialized, Laporta could not have wished for a better start to his second presidential term at Barcelona.
