Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever & Prediction – 06/12/21

Two games in the WNBA today and we’ll come right back with the same game we looked at a few nights ago, with the Chicago Sky (3-7) facing off against the Indiana Fever (1-10). This time the teams move to Indiana for an afternoon contest.

The Sky are favored by 11 points and the total on the game just dropped to 160.5 after being at 159.5 for a while this morning. Chicago is -700 on the moneyline at FanDuel.

Chicago Sky

Even with a win last time against the Fever, the Sky have been a disappointment this season. They have six players averaging 9.5 points or more but have had trouble getting more than one or two players going offensively in a game. Against the Fever a couple of nights ago was about the closest they’ve come all season to doing that, with five players in double figures and two more with 9 points.

Kahleah Cooper leads the team with 14.2 points per game and Diamond DeShields is second at 12.8, but DeShields is still a bit of a disappointment, as she has all the tools to be a star in the league. She averaged 14.4 and 16.2 points in her first two seasons, but hasn’t matched those totals last year or so far this one.

The Sky average 77.5 points per game and they have too much offensive talent for that not to be higher, while Chicago is allowing 77.9 per game.

Indiana Fever

If Indiana’s 1-10 record isn’t an indication that the Fever are a bad basketball team, their stats back that up, as Indiana shoots allows 47.8% from the field, including 44.6% from 3-point range, both of which are worst in the league. As a result, Indiana allows a league-worst 89.8 points per game.

Offensively, Indiana isn’t much to get excited about, as the Fever have three players in double digits and that’s it. The Fever have been held to 70 points or less four times and have lost their last six games by a minimum of 15 points, becoming the only team since at least 2011 to drop four straight by that margin. Granted, those games saw them play Las Vegas twice and Seattle once, but you’d like to see a little more fight from the team.

Chicago at Indiana Pick

We really haven’t talked record here, but as those who follow this article daily know, our 10-0-1 run came to an end last night with a dismal offensive showing by Phoenix. After an ugly 1-4 start to the season, we’re now 14-6-1 for the year, but use a bit of caution the next few days, as it isn’t unusual to have a few losses in a row after a strong run. My numbers have this one 91-81 for Chicago, so will come back with the over in this one, which we had a few nights ago. The Sky can play defense, but think they’ll look to take advantage of the Fever’s lack of defense and score some points.
