The 2020 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Tournament heads to Brooklyn as the 14 A10 schools will look to earn the leagues automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Tournament. Dayton is the prohibitive favorite and it would be a shock if they even get challenged this week. The first round will start on Wednesday, March 11 and the championship will take place Sunday, March 15. The top 10 teams receive a first round bye and the top four seeds will all receive a double bye to quarterfinals.

Atlantic 10 Tournament Odds: 

Massachusetts is the most successful active Atlantic 10 team as the Minutemen have won the conference tournament five times in the past, but have not won it since 1996. Saint Joseph’s is right behind them at four titles and Saint Louis, Rhode Island, and George Washington have all won the title two times. Duquesne, Dayton, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, VCU, and Davidson have all lifting the trophy one time in school history. Fordham, George Mason, and La Salle are the only current members to have never won the A10 tournament title. Temple, now a member of the American Athletic Conference, is far and away the best A10 team ever as the Owls won the conference tournament 10 times before moving conferences.

Last season, Saint Louis won their second A10 title after entering Brooklyn as the six seed. The Billikens opened up play with a three point second round win over #11 Richmond and then knocked off #3 Dayton by nine in the quarterfinals. Saint Louis then went on to crush the #2 seed Davidson, 67-44, before sneaking by #4 St. Bonaventure 55-53 in to win the championship. The Billikens drew Virginia Tech, the #4 seed in the East, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and fell 66-52.

There always seems to be a surprise team that comes out of nowhere and makes the final of the A10 Tournament, but that would be a bit of the surprise this season. I expect the semifinals to be #1 Dayton vs #5 St. Bonaventure and #2 Richmond vs #3 Rhode Island. In the final I think #1 Dayton will play against #2 Rhode Island and it will be the Dayton Flyers who lift the 2020 Atlantic 10 Tournament trophy.
