The transfer window closed in Spain on Friday night and with it came to the end of a record-breaking summer of spending in LaLiga. Thomas Lemar was the most expensive buy, moving to Atletico from Monaco.
This window, LaLiga clubs spent €888m, around €300m more than the last yr when total spending reached €596m, to strengthen their squads for the coming marketing campaign. It must be said though, Spanish spending trails behind that in Italy and England.
As well as, player sales are also at an all-time high, with Spanish clubs receiving around €800 million in fees as players left the league and so they look to balance the books.
Madrid spent the third most they have this decade, leading the line with €140m spent, ahead of Barcelona (126), Valencia (125) and Atletico (123).
Despite Atleti only finishing fourth, they did have the biggest single outlay – on Lemar. He moved to the Wanda for €70million, well over half the total spend of Diego Simeone’s side.
