Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has a plan to keep Eden Hazard at the club.
The winger has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer and hasn’t done much to convince the fans he will stay, but now the Express claim Sarri is set to make him the club’s captain and thinks that will be enough to convince the player to remain at the club this summer and possibly even sign a new deal with the Blues.
That would certainly make the fans happy, and worries over the future of Hazard has been the case for some time now, with the player unhappy under former manager Antonio Conte and Chelsea out of the Champions League once again.
Chelsea are also trying to keep hold of their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, yet could lose the player to Real Madrid as well.
It’s not just keeping hold of players – the Blues are also trying to bring in new players and have seen Rob Green join the club to offer back up in the goalkeeping stakes and also to up their home grown quota.
They’ve also tried to land Daniele Rugani, and are making progress with that, given the player wants the move and his agent has also made that clear.
The player’s agent said: “Chelsea really like Rugani and have made an important offer. Juve are aware of the interest but for now they don’t want to sell the player.
“But we know everything has a price. Rugani is a defender that would make Chelsea’s manager happy and it would be a good investment for them. Rugani wants to play more games.”
