Jack is Back!

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere who left Arsenal in 2018, has been spotted training in the London Colney.

Wilshere made over 200 appearances for Arsenal over a ten-year period, including one of the most memorable goals at Emirates Stadium in 2013 when he finished off a brilliant team play against Norwich. He came into Arsenal’s first team at the age of 16 and was expected to be the club’s future star. However, on the other hand,  injuries slowed his growth and stopped him from attaining his full potential.

Since he left Arsenal in 2018, the England International has played for two English Clubs i.e. West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth. In last season’s January transfer window, Wilshere joined Bournemouth again (previously played for the Cherries in the 16-17 season on-loan) for a short-term deal. After making 17 appearances and scoring two goals in all competitions during his brief comeback to Bournemouth, he was released at the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season.

Wilshere has had a difficult football career, having been sidelined due to several injuries. When Wilshere joined West Ham back in 2018, he made only 19 appearances for the Hammers, as he was often sidelined with injuries or fitness issues.

Last month, in an interview with The Athletic, Wilshere stated that he was thinking about retiring before his 30th birthday. In the month of September, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who played alongside Wilshere for five years, said that Arsenal’s management is in talks with Wilshere, to see if there is a possibility for him to return to Arsenal.

Now, with Wilshere back on board with Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has said to Arsenal’s official website, “I am very happy to have him back. We had a conversation with Jack and understand the needs that he has, the period that he is going through and I think everyone at the club agreed it was the right moment to help him.”

“He wants to do his coaching badges again and we are prepared to fulfil all the needs that he wants. That is basically the idea and it is no further than that.”

The Spaniard also stated, “He is going to be training sometimes with us, he is going to be around the place, he is going to be continuing his coaching badges that he is very interested in, try to get him fit, try to get his experiences across to our players, our young players, our academy and I think it is great influence to have around.”
