The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Vince McMahon’s reimagined football promotion XFL are pursuing a team in Orlando, Florida.

Despite the recent competition from another upstart football league, it appears XFL isn’t backing down. John Saboor, who is WWE’s senior vice president of special events has contacted Orlando’s executive director of venues.

The idea here is that XFL would have a team based in Orlando, who would compete at the Camping World Stadium.

McMahon previously claimed that WWE and XFL would have no connection, besides his own name being associated with both. That would not be the case if WWE employees themselves are working on McMahon’s new league.

It is worth noting that the attempt by McMahon and Saboor to get an Orlando team may be difficult. This is due to Charlie Ebersol’s Alliance of American Football announcing that they will have a team in Orlando themselves. This is the early competition McMahon and XFL have, and they’ll be kicking their league off a year before Alpha Entertainment LLC begins their league.
