Brock Lesnar on course for UFC return as ‘missed’ drugs test was error made by USADA

BROCK LESNAR'S UFC return is not at risk after Usada confirmed his missing drugs test was a "technical glitch".

The Athletic Test History database last weekend showed the former heavyweight champion had undergone five drug tests this year, one less than had previously been thought.

Lesnar is plotting a UFC return in 2019

Lesnar has recently re-enrolled on Usada's Testing programme as he plots a return to mixed marital arts in 2019, but the inconsistency in his testing history has been put down to a computer error.

USADA spokesperson Adam Woullard said: “USADA updates the Athlete Test History page of the UFC/USADA website on a weekly basis.

"During an update on the week of October 15th, we experienced a technical issue that resulted in the information on the page being displayed incorrectly.

“The correct test history for the athlete is one test [that week], not two. The issue has been fixed and the testing numbers on the website are all accurate. We are still investigating the specific technical issue that led to the error.”

Lesnar has spent a spell back in the WWE prior to resuming his UFC career

The UFC’s Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky has since confirmed that the mistake does not affect the timeline regarding Lesnar's return.

He is available to compete again from January 8th 2019.

He told ESPN: “I have access to a more specific database than the public, which displays the date a sample is collected, what type of sample it is and what the results are as soon as they are available.

“The public website, as I understand it, indicated there had been two tests during this last quarter, and it recently dropped to one.

"I have always seen one test in this quarter for Lesnar. It was a urine test and it came back negative.”

Daniel Cormier is keen on a clash with Lesnar next year

Concerns regarding the irregularity follow Lesnar's previous 12-month ban for twice testing positive for estrogen blocker clomiphene.

He was fined £198,000 and subsequent retired from the sport but this year confirmed his intention to return, and called out Daniel Cormier the current UFC heavyweight champion.

Cormier responded with a challenge of his own after his submission win over Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 and a clash in the New Year appear inevitable.

To prepare to compete again Lesnar has returned to WWE action, where he recently appeared significantly slimmer to the surprise of fans on social media.
