The Northern Trust marks the start of the 2018 FedExCup playoffs and Tiger Woods is making his first postseason appearance since 2013.

Since the inception of the FedExCup playoffs in 2007, Woods is the only golfer to win the cup twice (2007 and 2009).

Woods played it safe in his first 10 holes, making par on every one except for No. 17 where he picked up a birdie. His final eight holes proved troublesome as he picked up bogeys on Nos. 2 and 5. He did manage a birdie on No. 3 to finish even on the day with a 71.

Woods, who has committed to the first three playoff tournaments, will be competing over the next month for a chance to claim the third FedExCup of his career. He entered The Northern Trust at No. 20 in the FedExCup point standings. 

Tiger teed off on No. 9 Thursday at 7:54 a.m. ET along with Marc Leishman and Tommy Fleetwood. Sporting News tracked Tiger’s score and provided live hole-by-hole updates below.

Hole 8: Par 4, 475 yards

Great tee shot right down the middle of the fairway.   Puts it on the green with his second shot. Misses the birdie but less than a foot and taps it in to finish with a par on the day.

Hole 7: Par 4, 486 yards

Tee shot nearly goes in the left fairway side bunker, but falls short into the rough. His second shot finds the right fairway about 65 feet from the pin. Kicks it up onto the green; sinks the ensuing putt for par.

Hole 6: Par 3, 230 yards

Punches it 215 yards on to the green, but it’ll be a long putt for birdie. Misses the hole by less than two feet, settles for par.

Hole 5: Par 4, 440 yards

Pushes his tee shot into the rough on the right side of the fairway. About 175 yards to go to the pin. Second shot isn’t great and lands in the right green side bunker. Pops it out of the bunker and faces a 10-foot putt for par. Misses it just short and takes the bogey.

Hole 4: Par 4, 444 yards

Tee shot lands on the right fairway, about 170 yards from the pin. The ball lands just to the back left of the pin after his second shot. Looking at a 20-foot putt for a chance at a birdie. Pushes it past the hole about five or six feet. Follows it up with a nice par save.

Hole 3: Par 5, 588 yards

Drives his tee shot about 280 yards to the right fairway to start off his last Par 5 of the day. Second shot lands him just short of the green, about 80 feet to the pin. His third shot finds the green and has a chance for birdie sitting 12 feet from the hole. Sinks the putt for his second birdie on the day and jumps back under par.

Hole 2: Par 3, 190 yards

Tee shot lands on the green behind the pin, but it just barely rolls into the rough. Second shot buts him back on the green, but he puts it past the hole. Looking at a 12-foot putt now. Putt misses just on the right side and he’s left with a bogey to bring him back to even.

Hole 1: Par 4, 380 yards

Nice tee shot puts him about 115 yards from the hole. Second shot misses the pin and goes to the back of the green. He pitches it back towards the pin and sets up a short par putt. A nice par save to stay at 1-under.

Hole 18: Par 4, 470 yards

Tee shot goes left and is way off. He makes a nice recovery to the green and is looking at a 30-foot putt for birdie. Misses the tough birdie putt coming up a few feet short. Taps it in for par.

Another tee shot, another fairway for Tiger. Still has about 300 yards to go to the hole. His second shot doesn’t make it to the green yet, but he’s set himself up for a nice birdie chance if his placement on the green is good. A nice chip does just that and now he’s got about three feet to go for birdie. He sinks it for his first birdie of the day.

275-yard drive finds the fairway off the tee. A nice approach shot has him lined up for a birdie chance. Misses the birdie as he records another par.

Hole 15: Par 3, 155 yards

Finds the green with his tee shot; looking at a 20-22 foot putt for birdie. Birdie putt is just shy of the hole and he settles for par.

Third straight tee shot to land on the fair way today. He’s just over 150 yards from the hole. Second shot makes it to the green. He’s looking at a long putt for birdie. He’s a bout 3-4 feet short of a birdie and settles for par.

Drives his tee shot about 300 yards to the let edge of the fairway. His second shot keeps it in the fairway, but still a ways to go before he gets to the green. Manages to find the green with his third shot; looking at a 22-23 foot putt for birdie. Misses the birdie chance and settles for another par.

Hole 12: Par 4, 291 yards

His tee shot lands on the fairway for the first time today after going about 180 yards. Uses a wedge for his second shot and rolls it back off the green to the edge of the fairway. He rolls it past the pin with his third shot and sinks a 6-7 foot putt for par.

Tee shot puts it on the green within 15 feet of the pin for his first chance at a birdie for the day. Birdie put just misses. Taps it in for another par.

Tiger pushes it left again off the tee for about 290 yards. His second shot brings it back to the fairway, but he’s still a good 40 feet from the hole. Manages to get it on the green for a 6-7 foot par putt and sinks it.
