Manchester United Close to Marcel Sabitzer Deal

Manchester United is said to be close to finalising a deal with Bayern Munich to sign midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

Marcel Sabitzer, according to Sky in Germany, boarded a flight to Manchester on Transfer Deadline Day as talks between the two clubs continued. The deal is expected to be a loan with a buy-back clause inserted.

While United had been offered several other players, including Isco, Saul Niguez, Houssem Aouar, and Yannick Carrasco, they decided to pursue Sabitzer.

United manager Erik ten Hag admitted that doing a deal this late in the day would be difficult, but United sees an opportunity in the midfielder they had previously looked at.

Chelsea is also interested in Sabitzer, but they are currently negotiating a deal for Benfica's Enzo Fernandez.

Bayern is ready to let Marcel Sabitzer leave on loan or permanently, with their sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic in talks with both Premier League clubs.

United is waiting for Bayern's decision, with the Manchester Evening News reporting that the club is "confident" they can complete the deal before the deadline.

The fact that the two clubs are in different European competitions and are not direct rivals could be a factor in the possible deal.

Marcel Sabitzer, who joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2021, has started only seven games in the Bundesliga this season.

Marcel Sabitzer has played as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a second striker, and a winger at different times in his career.
