Chelsea's transfer drama: Is Graham Potter in the plan?

Mhykalo Mudryk is the latest signing at Chelsea with loads of potential but is he what the club needs? (Photo credit: Sky Sports)

If you have products to sell, link them to Arsenal and Chelsea might just double the offer and make you rich enough to finance a war, pure jokes but not too far away from the reality of things at Stamford Bridge after Graham Potter came out to ask the management to slow down on signings.

Mhykalo Murdryk was at the Bridge to watch Chelsea halt a horrible run of one win in nine games with a hard fought 1-0 win over Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace and as promising as the young winger is, was he ever in Potter’s personal plan?

Benoit Badiashile put in a fine shift on his debut against Palace and David Fofana on the bench continues to wait for his time; quite understandable that a few names are on the injury list but when everyone is back fit, where will all these players fit in?

Of course, some are expected to leave this window including Hakim Ziyech and Ngolo Kante who has refused to sign a new deal but if the upper management continues to sign players against the will of the manager, have they started talking to someone else to take charge soon?

Chelsea, on current form and League position may miss out on Europe altogether or manage to squeeze into the Europa Conference League but will all these gladiators they’re assembling choose such lower league? Will many of them be happy not to play in the Champions League?

The Pierre Emerick Aubameyang experiment has failed woefully and you can’t really blame the Club for trying; The Blues needed a striker and Barcelona needed the money, it’s no longer news that he wants to leave but by European laws, he can only play for two teams in a season and that leaves only Barcelona as his option.

Tiago Silva is arguably the best defender in the league. Without the Brazilian, Chelsea would be farther down the log but he is ageing and isn’t expected to renew his contract at the end of the season, together with club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, leaving the Blues with the youngsters.

Is there a long-term plan with Potter? Does the hierarchy trust him as much as they claim they do? Will he be given time to integrate the new boys and impose his style? Or is the club just papering cracks to hand over to another big name manager soon?
