Everton have announced that they have parted ways with manager Rafael Benitez with immediate effect, a club statement confirmed on Sunday.

Former Liverpool and Newcastle head coach Rafael Benitez was hired in July 2021 as the sixth manager in six years that the Toffees have hired was fired on Sunday, following an embarrassing defeat in the hands of bottom club Norwich in a league match on Saturday.

As at the time of filing this, the club are yet to name a successor but Duncan Ferguson is expected to be installed on the interim with one of the men they let go in the past, Roberto Martinez hot on the list of likely successors.

Everton have been through Sam Allardyce, Roberto Martinez, Marco Silva, Carlo Ancelotti and now Benitez in the last half of a decade with the outgoing Spaniard clocking the lowest win percentage of 31% in all competitions.

Everton have won just one league game in the last ten attempts and that was the 2-1 comeback success over Arsenal in December of 2021, one point from the last four, including games against Crystal Palace, Brighton and Norwich nailed Benitez’s coffin as the Everton Manager.
