Pep Guardiola's side dominated the game as expected with 65% possession and some mesmerizing display by the reliable David Silva. Manchester United's 35% possession is their lowest at Old Trafford in the Premier League since 2003/04.
Though City were there for the taking, Delph, Kompany and Fernadinho were not up for it and Walker spent most of the game been cautious as he was booked early on, Mourinho didn't take the initiative as his team looked timid until they conceded the first goal.
David Silva put City ahead after a defensive mistake by United, Lukaku failed to deal with a corner- kick heading the ball down towards his own goal for Silva to score.
Manchester United responded to going behind, better attacking play and they looked more lively, Rashford equalized just before halftime pouncing on a long ball after Delph failed to deal with a long ball.
Another Lukaku mistake gifted the win, from another set-piece, his poor clearance bounced off a United player and fell perfectly for Otamendi to convert his 4th goal of the season, the highest tally for any defender in the League.
Ederson made two heroic saves to stop Lukaku and Mata late on as City inflicted United's first home loss since their last meeting at Old Trafford.
