Top 5 Active Footballers Who Have Been Unfairly Treated by Their Own Fans

Football is a game of fun and indeed should be, but when your own fans turn against you, then it is something else. Some fans often forget that these footballers are humans.

This article is about top 5 active footballers that have been unfairly treated by their own fans.

1. Granith Xhaka - Arsenal

Xhaka joined Arsenal from Borusian Mochenglabach, with high expectations from Arsenal fans, Xhaka was living up to expectation until a little deep in form due to changed in tactics from their former manager Unai Emery early in the season. Against Crystal Palace Xhaka was booed off the field of play and  reacting to jeers from the crowd, Xhaka tossed his armband away, goaded the crowd, snubbed his manager's handshake and ripped the shirt off his back as boos rang around the Emirates. "When your own football family insults you, it hurts". That was  Granit Xhaka's quote to the 'abnormal and excessive' treatment from Arsenal fans.

2.Romelu Lukaku - Manchester United

Lukaku was badly treated and was used as a scape goat by some Manchester united fans last season for not scoring up to numbers of goals they wanted from their number nine and the big Belgian has proved them wrong this season by scoring lots of goals for Inter Milan that he joined at the start of the season. So far this season Lukaku have scored 21 goals in 32games.

3. Serge Aurier  - Tottenham

Aurier joined Tottenham Hotspur from PSG of France as replacement for Kieran Trippier  who left for Athletico Madrid in the La liga. Spur fans turned against Serge Aurier for the error he committed against Watford in one of premier league games. But the ivorian deserves much more credit for providing a rare fruitful attacking and energy they were lacking in that wing.

4. Gareth Bale - Real Madrid

Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur for one of the record fee in world football back then, and he started well with the Galaticos but frequent injuries limits his playing time and also makes fans and coach Zidane to turn against him.  Bale is the only man to annoy his manager by scoring an overhead kick in a Champions League final. Funny right?

5. Olivier Giroud - Arsenal

Giroud scored 73 goals in 180 appearances for the Gunners before he joined Chelsea in 2018. The French man was heavily criticised by Arsenal fans for not scoring enough goals for their team and he was booed on so many occasions during his time at the Emirates stadium
