Arsenal Considering the Sale of €14m Rated On-Loan Striker Despite Incredible Scoring Form

According to fresh reports, Arsenal are considering the sale of on-loan striker Folarin Balogun in the summer. The North London side are planning on raising some funds to balance the books and are open to selling their academy star, currently on loan at Stade de Reims.

Arsenal fans are having an astonishing season so far. With 16 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses, Mikel Arteta’s men are currently second in the Premier League. They are tied with Manchester City on points at the top of the table, but trail them only on goal difference, having played one less game as well.

Besides the on-field action, the North London side want to focus on the off-field factors as well, with the next transfer window due in 4 months. The club have already started planning the ins and out for the upcoming summer transfer window, specially the exits.

The Gunners spent heavily during the last summer, bringing in five players. Meanwhile, the club also did pretty good business in the recently concluded January window. Now, the Arsenal board is focusing first on sales to balance their finance books.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are willing to sanction the sale of their on-loan striker Folarin Balogun this summer. The 21-year-old joined Stade de Reims on a season-long loan at the start of the 2022/23 campaign and has been firing in all cylinders ever since.

The young striker has a contract until June 2025 with the Londoners. However, he has had very limited playing time at the Emirates Stadium. The young English striker has featured in just 10 games for the Gunners senior team, having two goals and a solitary assist (stats via Transfermarkt).

However, at the Stade Auguste-Delaune, his fortunes have remarkably turned. In 22 Ligue 1 appearances so far, the young forward has 15 goals and 1 assist to his name. Due to his attacking statistics, the French club reportedly tried converting his loan into a permanent deal in January, but the Gunners rejected the move.

The English striker is currently the top goalscorer of Ligue 1, ahead of Alexandre Lacazette, Jonathan David, Wissam Ben Yedder and Kylian Mbappe. The youngster is in top form this season and the Gunners would have to decide fast if they want to retain the striker or let him leave.

Since Folarin Balogun is an academy product, Arsenal would end up making a 100 per cent profit from his sale. This factor could prove decisive in the club’s decision to sell him, to help them balance out their spending in the last two windows.

The North Londoners spent almost £111m in the summer on Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira while Matt Turner and Marquinhos’ fees were undisclosed. During January, they spent a total of £59m on Leandro Trossard who came from Brighton & Hove Albion, Poland international Jakub Kiwior and Chelsea’s Jorginho.

During these two windows, the club sold just 4 players in the summer and two more players left for free, amounting to just around £20m. With the young sensation, Balogun, in quite some form and under a long contract with Arsenal, it would be interesting to see if Reims can reach an agreement to sign him permanently.
